Lee’s life in music began, as many do in the school bands back in his home town of Nottingham where he developed his skills as a professional standard drummer. At 16 he joined his first “real life” pro band, entering the world of Country Music, and through the years Lee has played all over the world and has been fortunate  enough to have backed many famous Country Music artists both live and in studio

.

In recent times Lee’s musical tastes had turned to Roots and Acoustic as a new genre. Working during the late 90’s with Jon J Paul and the bands varied instrumentation, including accordion and pedal steel, had flavoured Lee’s ‘creative layered’ approach to the drum seat further.

Lucky enough to work in the Gary Perkins Band for the last 6 years, Lee has travelled extensively and enjoyed major success with Gary in the Country Music Field, a role Lee still actively retains to day.

Lee’s friendly obsession for equipment is ever present but often curtailed by the need to get back to basics in Country. It is often commonplace to see Lee surrounded by a rack of drums and cymbals. However, those famous drum clusters are, on occasion clipped back to kick and snare to provide straight ‘4’s behind C’est La Vie’s frontline troupes of Jon, Derek and Tony.

Whilst Lee’s drum sound is ‘punchy and tight’, he is equally at home using brushes to compliment Jon and Derek’s linear phrasing and tasteful dual harmonics!!!!. More like bulls**t piano and fiddly diddly!!

Locked into Tony’s bass lines, they can often be seen grooving together when the chance arises. Jon and Derek’s theory is ‘best not disturb them; you know how touchy rhythm sections can get’!!!
